Maria Shriver's California Women's Conference
I have been away from the computer, volunteering at an extraordinarly empowering and non-partisan women's conference, called the California Women's Conference. Despite it's title, women and men, leaders and activists from all over the world, participated. I loved it, found it to be simply 'life-affirming.' There's nothing we can't do if we really want to do it! You can read all about it, if you're interested, on the link. I'll be back writing on Friday. I miss my VOX neighbourhood!

did that come across as creepy and stalker-ish? hehe. sorry.
anyway, glad you're home, safe and sound. :)
wow! I started watching the videos of the conference. It looks like it was amazing! :) When I have some time, I am going to go through the whole thing.
I love the feeling of empowerment that I felt from what I saw and heard already.
the fires haven't been that close to us... close to steve's workplace, which made me a tad nervous... so it was close, but not that close... if that makes any sense. the smoke's been awful, though. mia and i have been inside for the past 4 days. mia is going stir crazy, poor girl. i'm just glad that everyone i know and love is safe and their homes didn't burn down... :)
Sounds like it was a very empowering experience. You all were fortunate not to be affected by the fires which were horrific. True, there were those who were attending the conference but their attempts were almost futile because of it. I truly hope this was not a case of arson. I remember what you said about the fires in Greece and it sickens me.
On a lighter note, I haven't gone through the entire video yet but I am sure it will be worth the watch.
Thanks for sharing.
It turns out that one fire was started by a 13-year-old boy playing with matches. 21 homes were lost as a result. They're still investigating arson suspicions. We could see the smoke from the fires as the plane flew over southern Cal. Many women and many volunteers could not attend the conference as a result.
